The data and information concept uses abbreviations and codes for automated reports and data mining.![]() The ifa Data Model for Ophthalmology is a comprehensive document focusing on structured concepts within the medical documentation. Ophthalmology was predestined for a complex Data Model for documenting medical and demographic patient data for the computerized patient record. Within 20 years (from 1987 to 2006) a multi-dimensional Data Model for documentation in eye clinics and practices was developed by the ifa systems Group. With the Data Model it is possible to systematically document more than 98% of all patient cases in ophthalmology as well as in global medical observations. The Data Model outlines the data entry structure (e.g. from patient demographics to treatment plan) as well as the data output structures (e.g. complete patient record and graphic findings). The complexity of the Data Model requires consistency in preparation for the computer documentation. Therefore it is necessary to categorize data from different areas and data sources. The Data Model gives a complete overview of the data input and output areas within a computerized medical record. To download the complete document "Data Model for Ophthalmology" please click here |
